New cards for 2021

It’s a brand new year, and with that we’re bringing on a whole bunch of new designs. In this new run of cards, we’re bringing more friends to Rua, and introducing a whole new category of cards to the store!

New Friends for Rua

Our resident fox Rua loves to meet new animals. Today, we’re delighted to unveil some new friends to join him on the store with Buzzard and Greta.

Petrie is a non-binary blue penguin, whose bow placement determines how they’re feeling on a given day. Co-created with Kat Dodd, Petrie is a voice for positive mental health in a crazy world.

Philip the Frog is here to wish everyone a happy day, joined by Montblanc and Lenoir – koi fish with alternate colour patterns inspired by Tui and La from Avatar: The Last Airbender. They wish you balance in all things.

I just called to say “I love you”

Our brand-spanking-new category of card is our Love Cards, perfect for Valentine’s Day and Anniversaries alike! Our three launch-designs for the range cover both our Goth and Pride collections.

We’re keen to spread the love this year, so expect more in this range of cards as the months pass.

Geek, Goth and Pride additions

Our starter collections are levelling up further today, with new cards added to the Geek, Goth and Pride collections. We’re especially delighted to bring in our Bi Heart design, after a request for some Bi creations back when we first launched.

Bi visibility is essential in the LGBTQ+ community, and we’re delighted to shine a light on it with this new design. Want more like it? Looking for designs in other areas of Pride? Let us know!

Ready, set, hunger!

Have you ever wanted to eat an illustration? We’ve been told our pizza and donut designs look good enough to eat. Whether you want to say happy birthday or thank someone, these cards are generic and bright enough for almost any occasion. We’d probably avoid them for condolences.

Fun fact, these cards came about because our designer missed them during lockdown. Expect more by the way of junk food as Ireland continues its lockdown status through 2021.

More to come!

With these new cards, we’re getting ready to kickstart 2021. They’ll be joined with some matching bookmarks and stickers along the way, as well the production of new writing products, and some designs to tie into other work by our designer. Keep an eye on our social channels for more info on that, and for the listings for the new cards!

Welcome – Why Greeting Cards?

The story of Red Fox Cards is simple – we like to give people greeting cards. The problem is, we found it more difficult to find designs that we liked in shops. So we started to make our own.

Why greeting cards?

For us, a greeting card is more than just a tradition established by a large American firm. A greeting card is a way of telling people you care, that you’re thinking about them, and that you acknowledge whatever it is they’re going through.

Why does Red Fox Cards exist?

We set up shop for a few simple reasons:

  • We always wanted to create greeting cards
  • The recent pandemic made buying cards more difficult
  • We love to design

At a time when the world feels full of fear, we’re challenging ourselves to put some positive vibes out into the universe. This isn’t just about being productive. This is about making something that turns surviving into living.

Why the fox?

Rua the fox greeting cards

We have a passion for foxes. It’s become a thing. People tag our owner in fox posts all over social media so he doesn’t miss the sweetest moments. While the domestication of foxes isn’t really a thing in Ireland, our own beloved mascot Rua makes up for it.

Welcome to Red Fox Cards

Without further delay, welcome to Red Fox Cards. We have set up our store on Etsy to facilitate a shared market environment and to manage payment processing. In the meantime, keep an eye on social media for Rua’s Fox Facts and a look at the first batch of greeting cards when they arrive.
